Healthy Living by Ayurveda (Swasthavrtta)
This unit starts with a study into history of ayurveda to understand thoroughly how ayurvedic concepts on health and disease are based on natural order of things. Universal laws govern the birth of Ayurveda as a coherent system of medicinal practice. Having understood how nature itself inspired the rise of a methodical practice of health management we go and study the spiritual dimension of healing, analyse the concept of health, the origin and meaning of daily and seasonal routines and role of food in health and disease. In addition, we investigate exercise as a potential to both improve and deteriorate health and other dimensions of health like sleep and environment allowing students to fully capture the essence of ayurveda as a wholistic system of medicine.
