Basics of Ayurvedic Nutrition
The full programme will run over two sessions:
Introduction to dosha & taste
Concept of seasonality, habits, cravings & aversions and food combinations
What is your ideal diet? What is the ideal diet for humans in general? Do you think coffee is bad for you? Will a daily dose of 500mg of vitamin pills save you from ageing?
Ayurveda can answer these questions and give guidance and inspiration to set you on a path of health and wellbeing that does not require spells of eating uninspiring food or fasting for days.
Whether carnivore, omnivore or herbivore, the Ayurvedic principles of nutrition can be applied to any diet. Whatever your dietary preference, Ayurveda will set you on a path to building healthy tissue, energy of your younger years and the priceless self-efficient knowledge of utilising food as preventative medicine. On the flipside, you will have insight into understanding what, and equally importantly when, food has the potential of becoming toxic and harmful.
The two initial sessions will give observations and guidance on the principles of Ayurvedic nutrition based on your specific and personal needs. These will cover, amongst other areas, dietary rotation, the use of seasonally fresh ingredients and portion regulation that will deliver a truly inspirational relationship with your food with the benefits of a healthy body, mind and spirit.
Study focuses on the spectrum of effects that link taste to what is commonly referred to in Ayurveda as “dosha”. Sounding complicated? Not at all! Basically, the concept focuses on the vital link between the food you eat, the energy and state that is produced and the resulting emotions.
It is said, you are what you eat. Ayurveda goes one step further however and will help you consider how, when and why you eat. Food for thought right there!
