Ayurveda is rooted in the principle of self-regulation, the body’s innate capacity to heal and restore itself. This means returning to a state of balance by activating the bodymind’s inherent intelligence, shaped by our unique constitution and supported through the right diet, lifestyle, herbal remedies, body therapies, and gentle detoxification.
The ultimate aim is to guide each individual back to homeostasis, a dynamic state of internal balance and wellbeing, even amidst life’s external fluctuations. It is in this state that we feel truly safe, grounded, and at ease.
This self-regulating intelligence is governed largely by the autonomic nervous system (ANS), the system that quietly oversees vital functions beyond our conscious control. When we feel secure, the ANS operates harmoniously. But under persistent stress, it shifts into fight-or-flight mode, a helpful adaptation in the short term, yet deeply depleting when prolonged. Chronic stress weakens the body’s resilience and gives rise to systemic inflammation and imbalance.
The most effective way to recalibrate the nervous system is through immersive rest: time in nature, therapeutic touch through massage, and the nourishment of seasonal, dosha-balancing food and herbs. All of these elements are woven into the fabric of our retreat environment.
Here, in this carefully held space, we offer more than just relaxation. We create the conditions for profound healing to unfold.
Each detox program we offer is individually crafted, with the journey often beginning even before your arrival at the retreat. Following a thorough health assessment, you will receive personalised guidance to ensure that you are prepared to enter fully into the therapeutic process from the very first morning of your residential stay.
Arrival is scheduled for 1.30pm, with lunch served on-site. For those travelling from London or other locations by train, we are happy to assist with transfers from the nearest station, such as Crewkerne.
You can expect to enjoy nourishing, simple, and delicious meals, carefully designed to support detoxification. In preparation, we recommend that you begin to lighten your evening meals a few days before arrival. Kindly refrain from bringing snacks or food items, as adherence to our meal schedule is essential for the effectiveness of your healing process. Eating outside of this rhythm can disrupt the internal recalibration your body will be undertaking.
Pack comfortable, season-appropriate clothing for both day and night, as well as essential toiletries. We encourage you to bring a lighthearted or inspirational book, something supportive and gentle on the mind. This is not a time for work or digital distractions, please prepare to minimise your online presence. Let family and friends know in advance that you’ll be on retreat, and ask them to only reach out in cases of true necessity.
We also encourage you to bring a journal for daily reflections, as this can be a powerful companion throughout your healing. Photos may be taken discreetly and respectfully, in accordance with our Terms & Conditions, and we invite you to share them only after your retreat concludes.
The healing process will unfold throughout the day with intention and care. Come with openness, curiosity, and readiness, a willingness to meet whatever arises with grace. Deep healing often involves the release of physical and emotional patterns that have been held in the tissues. These moments of release, while sometimes intense, are essential to restoring vitality, allowing energy to move freely, nourishment to be fully received, and toxins to be eliminated.
This retreat is your invitation to reset, restore, and return to wholeness. We look forward to welcoming you on this sacred journey.
A retreat entails the creation of a healing sanctuary that shields the bodymind from the routines and stressors that typify our everyday lives. Interruption will severely limit the benefits of the program.
You will be requested to commit to stay within the locality unless a specific excursion is included.
Usage of mobile phones or other screens is kindly requested to be kept to a minimum.
As your healing will be the focus and priority, we will encourage minimizing external interferences and distractions as much as possible. Please remember, prior to arrival, to plan and request that calls and messaging whilst you are at the retreat are kept to a minimum.
You can expect to be part of an intimate group of 6 to 12 participants. We have a team of therapists and healing experts assisting you throught the journey of healing and learning, Anu may be accompanied by an assistant, depending on the size and specific needs of the group.
Accommodation is flexible: you may choose a private room for solitude and rest, or opt to share with another guest. Prices will vary accordingly.
If your health circumstances require additional support, we are happy to consider the inclusion of a trusted family member, friend, or personal assistant. For those desiring complete privacy and independence, a separate cottage may be arranged exclusively for you and your companion, subject to availability.
